Geertson Creek

The Tonsmeires are long time Lemhi County ranchers and supporters of Lemhi Regional Land Trust who donated a conservation easement on their Geertson Creek property in late 2014, complementing the conservation easement placed on their Hayden Creek Ranch in 2011.  This property has long been used for ranching purposes including hay production and cattle grazing.  Sitting on a bench overlooking the Lemhi Valley, this property is also home to a small pond & riparian area that provides habitat for a huge variety of birds and other wildlife.  By protecting this property with a conservation easement, the Tonsmeires are helping to ensure that it remains available for agriculture, the wetland habitat is protected and open spaces remain available for wildlife habitat and passage.
