Location: Shoup, IDaho on Shell Creek
Land Size: 13 acres
Year Completed: 2016
In December 2016, LRLT completed our thirteenth conservation easement on a unique piece of property located down river on the Main Salmon River at Shell Creek. This conservation easement was donated by Mario and Glenda Hernandez of Idaho Falls and is bordered by the river on one side and the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness on the other. By far the most unique aspect of this property is that there is no road to the property—it can be accessed only by cable cart or boat. Placing a conservation easement on this thirteen acre property ensures that protection of the riparian areas, open space and wildlife habitat found on the property. While the conservation easement limits any further development on the property, the landowners continue to use and enjoy their property just as they have for years with the added peace of mind that it will remain intact and available for the next generation.
