Each time LRLT completes a conservation easement, we also make a commitment to annual monitor the property to ensure the terms of the conservation easement are being met. This means that each of our six easements are viewed at least annually by LRLT’s stewardship and conservation coordinator, Breann Westfall. During each visit, the state of the property is documented and take photos at specific points to further document the visit. Following the visit, a full report is written and the copies and originals of the resulting report and photos are stored both at LRLT and off-site to ensure that should something happen to one copy, others remain intact and available.
In 2012, Breann had the opportunity to see first hand the importance of these private working lands for wildlife while monitoring the properties, including the mama black bear spotted on the Kenney Creek Ranch pictured below.
