As I stood chatting with the bank teller as she processed my deposit, I couldn’t help but smile as she paused for a moment and then asked the question I’ve fielded on a regular basis since joining LRLT’s staff: “So what exactly is Lemhi Regional Land Trust?” It’s a question that makes me smile each time I answer it for a couple reasons. First, I think my job is pretty cool and with a background in outreach, I love talking with people about my job and the work done by our organization. Secondly, there are generally two predictable responses to my answer of “a non-profit focusing on private lands conservation”. Either the asker of the question says something like “oh that sounds interesting” and that’s the end of the conversation or they want to know more about what we do & the conversation continues.
The intent of our blog is to do just that –continue the conversation. We want to provide you a window into our world. While we’ll cover some of the nitty gritty technical details, we’ll leave most of those for our frequently asked questions page. Here you can expect to hear about what we’ve seen on recently visits to our conserved properties and how the vision of four local ranchers became the organization you know today as LRLT. You’ll also have a chance meet the people who own and manage the properties we’ve conserved, learn about conservation easement facts versus fiction and meet the people behind the organization.
So just who exactly can you expect to hear from on our blog? While my intent is to have contributions from the rest of LRLT’s staff and even a board member or two, the main person you can expect to hear from is me. I’m Charli Williams, LRLT’s Outreach Coordinator and Office Manager. Since you can learn more about me, the rest of our staff and board here I’ll spare you all the details, but I encourage you to keep in touch with us via our blog and if there’s a topic that you’d like to hear more about on here, please email me at charli@lemhilandtrust.org.
